Selling Votes in Stump County

We just found out how our congressmen and women voted on the healthcare plan for the universe.  Most of them voted for it. All of us are pretty mad about it.  If the rest of the State has anything at all in common with Stump County we won’t see any of them in office much longer.

We’re not as mad about how they voted as we are that they were so stupid they didn’t realize how much those “Yes” votes were worth. Congressman Ben Nelson of Nebraska sold his for bazillions of dollars for his constituents and we’ll never know if he took a little vig off the top for himself.

All of ours took that “Yes” that was worth bazillions and just gave it away. We are okay with greedy.  We are okay with self-serving but we expect better than just plain stupid from the folks who are supposed to be looking out for our country and us.

What they did was as stupid as buying a lottery ticket and expecting to win. It was as stupid as buying one of Clem’s raffle tickets for a horse. Clem would buy every dead horse he could find and sell raffle tickets for a dollar each. Then when he had the drawing he would tell the winner the horse died and give him his dollar back. Old Clem was getting rich until we all caught on.

Maybe we need to send Clem to Congress.  At least he understands how business works and he isn’t any more dishonest than some of those who are already there.

What those Congressmen did was the same as buying a lottery ticket and finding out it was a winner.  All they had to do was take it in and collect their money.  Let’s face it, a lottery ticket costs a dollar.  The winning ticket is worth whatever the prize is and losing tickets are worth nothing.  They aren’t even big enough to start a fire.

So instead of collecting on that winning ticket, our representatives took that million-dollar winner and gave it away.  I guess they don’t understand the difference between a winning and a losing ticket.  On the other hand, next time they are up for reelection they will probably get an education on what a losing ticket is.
