SEC is excited to announce that the Touchstone Energy Hot-Air Balloon will be at Hooper Park on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. SEC members and their families who are interested in taking a short ride up in the balloon overlooking the SEC grounds are asked to make a $5 per person donation. Balloon rides will be subject to weather conditions, and all donations will be given to a charity of the Cooperative’s choice. For more information about the balloon, go to www.cbaballoon.com.

Annual meeting registration will take place from 8:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Each registering member will receive a free gift and two (2) meal tickets for a delicious barbecued chicken lunch. Additional meal tickets may be purchased for $3.00 each. Members are encouraged to come early to enjoy a day of fellowship with friends, visiting dignitaries, members of the SEC board of directors, and Cooperative employees.

Return SEC Member Proxy Card and Become Eligible to Win $400 of Free Electricity

The SEC member postage-paid, self-addressed proxy card can be found on the upper half of the back cover of this month’s Cooperative Living magazine. Members should simply tear off the proxy card along the perforated area, complete and sign the card, and return/mail it to the Cooperative. Members who sign and return the proxy card so it can be received at SEC’s office by 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013 will be eligible to participate in a drawing for a chance to win $400 towards their next electric bill. The proxy card should be signed and returned even if you plan to attend the annual meeting.

When a member registers at the annual meeting, the proxy that has been executed by him/her becomes invalid, and the member in question is entitled to vote on all matters that might take place in the same manner as if the proxy had not been executed. Returning the proxy also helps to ensure that a quorum is present at the annual meeting.

Highlighting the business session of the 76th SEC Annual Meeting will be the election of three persons to serve on SEC’s Board of Directors to represent districts I, II, and III of the Cooperative’s service territory. As your elected representatives, the Board of Directors conducts the business affairs and establishes overall policies for the Cooperative. Members are also provided information about the financial health of the Cooperative, along with a progress report of ongoing and future activities and programs.

This year’s Annual Meeting will again feature a health fair. SEC members/attendees can obtain free health screenings and other health-related information. Personnel from area hospitals and other service organizations will also be on hand to provide screenings, information and materials on the availability of additional services and resources. Other activities will include exhibits, special music performances and periodic prize drawings. SEC members should mark their calendars now and plan to attend the 76th Annual Membership Meeting of their member-owned electric cooperative.
