CHARLOTTE COURT HOUSE – Three Southside Electric Cooperative (SEC) employees out of the Crewe office recently put up a new scoreboard at the Randolph-Henry High School (R-HHS) softball field, in time for the new season starting in March.
Line Technician Supervisor Tony Kemp, Line Technician Ben Simmons and Line Technician Apprentice Gaines Kiser installed the three-part scoreboard just beyond the right-field fence on Feb. 15. Before hanging the new board, they removed the old one.
SEC donated the work, as part of its ongoing efforts to support the communities it serves with electricity.
“Southside Electric Cooperative is always willing to consider assisting schools and other community groups with projects by donating our time and making sponsorship contributions,” said Ron White, SEC’s vice president of member and public relations. “We take seriously the seventh Cooperative Principle of Concern for Community.”
“We are incredibly appreciative of the support we received from Southside Electric. Their enthusiasm and willingness to help us with this project has been inspiring. They were professional, prompt, and passionate about supporting us in this endeavor from initial discussions through completion of the project,” said Chris Holt, Assistant Principal and Athletic Director for R-HHS.
“We would like to specifically thank Todd Fortune, Community Development Planner with the Commonwealth Regional Council, Bradley Furr, Vice President of Operations Services with Southside Electric and the fine SEC employees that were on site to complete this project,” continued Holt.
