LUNENBURG – The Lunenburg County School Board held their first meeting of 2016 last week and the first order of business was the organizational portion of the meeting.
There have been several recent positive announcements through the school, including the recent naming to a list of “up and coming school districts.” With things appearing to be continuing to move in the right direction, the board members decided that they would continue with the same leadership for the upcoming year.
The chairmanship of the school board will remain in the hands of Barry Carnes, while Kathy Coffee will also stay in the seat of vice chairman. Tom Palmore will remain in the position of clerk while Mary Overby was named as co-deputy clerk. The only addition to the officers was James Abernathy, who will also serve as co-deputy clerk this year.
The newest board member, Doug Aubel, was also introduced as he, Elizabeth Williams, and Ada Whitehead were sworn into their positions with the board by Lunenburg County Clerk of the Court Gordon Erby.
