Sandra G. Blount Obituary

Randolph, Va.

Sandra G. Blount, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away on January 5, 2017 at the age of 67.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Geneva Grissom.  Sandra is survived by her husband of 48 years, Marcus Blount; children, Sheila Stapleton (Jeff) and Mark Blount (Amanda); and grandchildren, Leigh Ann and Ian Stapleton, and Kaylee Talbott; four brothers, Dan Grissom (Sue), Ronnie Grissom Jr. (Carol), Dickie Grissom (Joanne), and Dwight Grissom (Debbie); two sisters, Tina Evans (David) and Teri Tuck (Wayne), a sister-in-law, Gail Lee (Carey); and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Sandra was a dedicated member of New Hope United Methodist Church where she served as pianist, Missions Committee member, and in many other capacities.  Retired from Charlotte County Public Schools, she loved her students, colleagues and time at Phenix and J. Murray Jeffress Elementary Schools.  She was a talented artist and crafter and spent most of her time since retirement taking care of her family and friends.  Her greatest joys were spending time with her children and grandchildren.  Her friends describe her as selfless and dedicated to the well-being of others, always putting others first.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Monday, January 9, 2017, at New Hope United Methodist Church, Randolph, Va., with interment in the Saxe Cemetery, Saxe, Va.  The family received friends at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, Va., on Sunday, January 8, 2017, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.   Consider charitable contributions to Trucker’s Parade Against Cancer, 2915 Patrick Henry Highway, CCH, VA 23923 or Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital.  The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville is in charge of arrangements.
