Motorists should expect some minor delays on Route 307 in Prince Edward Count between Route 460 and the Nottoway County line beginning Monday, September 16, weather permitting, as several trees are removed.

In recent months, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) did extensive tree trimming along this section of roadway to maximize the line of sight for motorists and, specifically, to extend the height needed to allow visibility in the vertical curves.

According to Bill Lewis, Roadside Manager for VDOT’s Lynchburg District, “The tree removal will complete the work that was done earlier this year. These trees either pose some level of safety risk or block some amount of distance.  We will remove them to further enhance safety for motorists on this portion of Route 307.”

Message boards and other traffic control devices will alert motorists to these operations which should be complete by the end of September.
