Robber Shot, Killed After Holding Up Store

Robber Shot-Milton T, GaitherVICTORIA – A scary scene took place last Thursday night in Victoria where a masked robber attempted to take money from the Little B Convenience Store located in the 1700 block of Main Street before being shot and killed by a store employee.

Victoria Police Department, Virginia State Police, Lunenburg Sheriff’s Office deputies and emergency responders were called to the Main Street location around 9 p.m. on June 15 for a shots fired report.

The investigation is being headed by the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Appomattox Field Office and remains ongoing at this time.

The press release stated, “Shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday (June 15, 2017), Milton T. Gaither, 34, of Dinwiddie, Va., entered the Little B Convenience Store located in the 1700 block of Main Street in Victoria. Gaither was wearing a mask, displayed a handgun and demanded money from the cash register. As Gaither fled the store, shots were fired.”

Gaither reportedly fled from the store and ran across the parking lot and street before he collapsed on 6th Street near the Nazarene Church location. He later died at the scene from gunshot wounds. His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Richmond for examination and autopsy.”

The release continued, “The store employee, a 32-year-old male, was not injured in the shooting. State Police recovered both Gaither’s and the store employee’s firearms at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation. State Police were assisted at the scene by the Town of Victoria Police Department and Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Office. State Police is also working in conjunction with the Lunenburg County Commonwealth’s Attorney.”
