After graduating from Randolph-Henry in 1998, Holt went on to Ferrum College where he played baseball for four years and received a degree in history and political science.  Holt returned to Charlotte County and became employed at the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Department, working as a deputy under Sheriff Thomas Jones for three years.  Upon leaving the Sheriff’s Department, Holt went on to teach history and technology at Central Middle School until he moved to Bristol, Va.

For the last 15 years, Holt was employed at Virginia Intermont University where he worked as an intercollegiate coach (baseball and golf) before taking the role of Executive Director of Athletics during the 2007-2008 school year.  Holt worked as Executive Director at Virginia Intermont until the end of last school year when they closed.

“I’m really excited about being back here in the county, working my hardest to make it the best I can make it for the kids that are here,” said Holt. Holt notes that he takes a lot of pride in choosing the right coaches to have in front of the children.  “I believe that our coaches serve a vital role with our students.  Sometimes they’re the most important mentor a student will have.”   Coming from an athletic background himself, Holt understands the importance of the athletic program.

Although Holt stresses the idea of elevating all athletics at Randolph-Henry, he also places an important focus on the classroom.  “Our student athletes have got to be students first,” said Holt.  “Their focus has to be on graduation and doing their best in the classroom.”

“I want to thank Mrs. Leonard and Mr. Mason for their confidence in me and affording me this opportunity and responsibility that they’ve given me to make a difference here in the place I was born and raised.  It’s pretty special to me,” expressed Holt.”

Mr. Chris Holt resides with his wife Cindy and their three children, Chance (11), Casey (8) and Carly (6).

Charlotte County Public Schools is also welcoming 12 new teachers this school year.
