HicksRhesa Joel Hicks, age 84, of Keysville, Virginia, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his parents, N. A. and Mary Hicks; five brothers, Billy Ray Hicks, Lonnie B. Hicks, Willie T. Hicks, Bennie L. Hicks, and Lenwood N. Hicks; and a sister-in-law, Doris J. Hicks.
Rhesa is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Lois C. Hicks; a son, Ronnie D. Hicks (Kathleen); two grandsons, Santana Tatro (Susie), and Bryan A. Hicks (Erica); a great-granddaughter, Paisley Faye Hicks; two brothers, Miller Hicks (Bettie), and Raymond L. Hicks; three sisters, Betty H. Church (Freddie), Lucy H. Evans (Bill), and Edith H. Martin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Rhesa was a man of many talents. He loved woodworking in his father’s shop where he made many beautiful pieces of furniture; he also built his own home.  Rhesa farmed, worked at the family sawmill, and did construction work. He ran Hick’s Service Station for twenty-seven years; he also built his own equipment to work with in his business.  He was man of few words but he loved his family deeply.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, with interment in the Evergreen Cemetery, Charlotte C. H., Va.  The family received friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service.  The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, Va., is serving the family.
