LUNENBURG – The Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors recently approved an extension to a conditional use permit for the construction of Verizon Wireless towers along Rocky Mill Road in Victoria and Mill Pond Drive in Dundas.

Verizon representatives had approached the group previously to ask for this extension after the initial conditional use permits were approved on November 14, 2013. The proposed 310-foot tall communication towers were supposed to have been started by this time but construction has not begun.

The Lunenburg County Planning Commission made the recommendation that the extension be granted to Verizon Wireless, but that there be some restrictions to the extension. The construction on these towers must be started prior to December 31, 2015 and the towers must be operation prior to June 30, 2016.

These recommendations were also approved by the Board of Supervisors meaning that the permits could be revoked if construction is not started before the start of 2016.
