bacon district fund driveTurn up the heat! The Bacon District Volunteer Fire Department (Co. 3) is raising the temperature this summer in an effort to raise money to make payments on their new firehouse. If you happen to take a cruise down Barnesville Hwy. through Wylliesburg, you may notice a large thermometer on the lawn of the fire department. However, you won’t be able to measure the outside temperature using this cutout. According to Bacon District Fire Chief Wade Stembridge, the department decided to place a large fundraising thermometer in front of the firehouse at the beginning of May to track progress as funds were collected. A current number was not available at the time of this press, however, Stembridge stated that these monies have come from sources such as donations and boot drives. Stembridge announced that upcoming fundraisers will include a Fourth of July Stew and a Boot Drive on July 18th. Monetary donations are currently being accepted.
