R-HHS Statesmen baseball starts 4-0

The Varsity Statesmen Baseball team is off to a hot start as they have outscored their opponents 45-5.  In the first game of the season the Statesmen welcomed Central to Bankston field and came away with a 14-0 victory.  Offensively, the Statesmen were led at the plate by Cameron Vassar, Carter Strickland, and  Goldman as they each had two hits.   On the mound the Statesmen got a great performance from Cameron Vassar and he had 12 strikeouts while giving up 1 hit to the Chargers.

SP--RH BaseballIn game two of the season the Statesmen traveled to Bluestone for a JRD match up with the Barons.  This was another well-pitched game as the Statesmen came away with a 10-0 victory.  Offensively, the got two hit games from Cameron Vassar, Kendrik Goldman, Josh Jones, Raleigh Duffer, and Grayson Crawford.   Josh Jones also had 3 RBI on the day.  On the mound the Statesmen got a big performance from Carter Strickland as he pitched a complete game shut-out.  Carter had 14 strikeouts and only gave up one hit.

The third game of the season saw the Statesmen travel to Goochland.  This was a little bit closer game as the statesmen came away with a 9-5 victory.  In this game the Statesmen got production at the plate from Cameron Vassar, Josh Jones, and Raleigh Duffer.  They each collected at least two hits at the plate.  Raleigh Duffer had a big game as he drove in 4 runs.  Once again the Statesmen got a good pitching performance from Cameron Vassar as he went 6 innings had 12 strikeouts.  Josh Jones came on in the 7th inning and set the Bulldogs down in order.  Cameron is now 2-0 on the season.

The last game before break saw the Statesmen taken on the Amelia Raiders.  Offensively, the Statesmen were led at the plate by Joseph Reed, Cameron Vassar, and Carter Strickland.  Carter also drove in 3 runs.  On the mound the Statesmen got a good performance from Raleigh Duffer as he pitched a complete game shut-out.

The Statesmen play at home this week against Cumberland and Chatham.  Come out and support Statesmen Baseball.
