CHARLOTTE COURT HOUSE – Randolph-Henry High School Statesmen boys and girl’s soccer teams celebrated Senior Night, May 16, during their final home games against the Knights of Buckingham.
Seniors were announced by Athletic Director Chris Holt and presented flowers by Coaches Patrick Shay and Penny Miles, immediately following the girls game. Seniors recognized were Adrianne Nelson, daughter of David and Nicole Nelson; Jason Moorehead, son of Barbara Moorehead; Josh Brown, son of Raymond and Teresa Brown; and Noah and Christian Pinchefsky, twin sons of Tony and Sonya Pinchefsky.
The R-HHS girls suffered a devastating loss to the Knights, with a very close match-up. The final score was 6-4, with the Knights scoring the final two goals late in the game. The sentiments in the stands were echoed over and over of how “these girls have really come a long way since that first game.” This season marked the very first for an individual girls’ team for R-HHS, transitioning from co-ed to form separate boys and girl’s teams. All four goals were scored by Adrianne Nelson with assists from Hailey Johnson, Abby Michaelson and Brooke Stoots. Goalie Kallie Traylor had eight saves.
The boys team faired better with a 4-3 win over Buckingham. The Statesmen were able to hold off a second half comeback by the Knights for the win. Goals were made by Caleb Chadwick, Shane Maloney, Brycen Parnell and Noah Pinchefsky. Assists by Josh Brown and Michael Nichols. Goalie John Walker had 15 saves for the night.
