CHARLOTTE COURT HOUSE – A collaborative effort involving Randolph-Henry High School coaches, staff, the Agriculture Department and the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office resulted in a two-day clean-up of the overgrown area surrounding the school’s soccer field.
The conditions of the field had become so overgrown that finding balls that left the confines of the fencing became almost impossible. In order to remedy the issue, R-HHS worked with one of its vendors to rent a skid-steer with a heavy duty bush hog attachment. Mr. Jim Pugh assisted with the skid-steer and R-H student Adam Layne used the tractor and school bush hog to clear much of the area. In the meantime, the school scheduled a date two months prior with Keith Lockridge at the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office to provide assistance with some larger brush and tree removal. Wallace Stokes was instrumental as well, working with the sheriff’s office providing direction, guidance and support. All the advanced coordination allowed the work to be completed in the two-day period.
“Quality soccer balls are expensive, the ability to retrieve them safely and consistently is certainly a priority throughout the season. This work has provided that opportunity,” said Chris Holt, Athletic Director at Randolph-Henry High School.
“We are thankful to all parties involved and appreciate the collaborative effort to improve our facility,” continued Holt. “It is truly amazing what can happen when people come together for a common purpose.”
