R-H Statesmen boys, girls set for Conference play

The basketball teams at Randolph-Henry will have to get ready for Conference 37 Tournament play this week after not much practice following snow in the area and schools being closed.

RH basketballRH Basketball 1The boy’s team will begin play late Wednesday night as they travel to Chatham in a close match up between the four and five seeds in the tournament. Randolph Henry is ranked below Chatham but after playing in the strong James River District has a chance to pull off the upset and advance. If they can get a first round win, R-H would then travel to Dan River on Thursday night to take on the top seed in the tournament.

Also in the bracket will be Buckingham who is the second seed in this conference and gets a first round bye. The Knights will host the winner between Appomattox and Gretna on Thursday night in Buckingham.

The Lady Statesmen check into their tournament as the number 6 seed and they will travel to Dan River on Wednesday night for a first round game. If they can win the opener, the Lady Statesmen would then travel to Gretna for round 2 on Thursday night.

The Lady Knights of Buckingham are the fifth seed in the girl’s bracket and they travel to Buckingham on Wednesday. A win there sets up a date with top seeded Chatham on Thursday night.
