CHARLOTTE C.H. – The Randolph-Henry High School soccer team celebrated senior night on Wednesday, June 2 with a 2-1 win over Central High School of Lunenburg.

The Statesmen got off to a slow start in the pouring rain, down 0-1 in the first half, when the game was stopped at half time for thunderstorms. The teams and fans gathered under the R-HHS pavilion and waited out the storms and returned to the field after a 30 minute delay, when the Statesmen came back on the field and played the game of their young lives, coming back to beat the Chargers, 2-1. The defensive line, lead by seniors Nathan Michaelson and Jaylon Hansen, held off the Central offense, while senior Isaac Napier scored on a set piece and also had an assist on a goal by junior Jacob Miller. Senior Hayden Clark had a spectacular night in the goal and seniors Annaleigh Lokker and Omari Morton made strong plays in their offensive positions.

The seniors were recognized before the start of the game, while being escorted on the field by parents, grandparents and friends. Randolph-Henry has six seniors departing after this season and they are, Hayden Clark, Jaylon Hansen, Annaleigh Lokker, Nathan Michaelson, Omari Morton and Isaac Napier.

Leading the Randolph-Henry Statesmen soccer team this year were new head coach, Heath Drinkard, assisted by Cree Hennings and Bill Hamill.

The Statesmen will travel to Bluestone High School tonight to play in the Boys Soccer Region 2A Tournament Quaterfinal Match. The game starts at 6 p.m.
