R-H Cross Country Gets Ready for JRD Championships

CHARLOTTE COURT HOUSE – Randolph-Henry traveled to Nottoway on October 12 for the last race before the JRD Championships. Host Nottoway, Buckingham, and Bluestone would provide plenty of competition for the Runnin’ Statesmen. With much cooler temperatures to run in, both teams looked for lots of improvement since last month’s race at Nottoway.

The girls ran in the first race and saw Nottoway win, Buckingham finish second, and R-H a close third. The girls were led by Alena Latysheva (7th), Lindy Newcomb (10th), and Sarah Grissom (11th).

The second race saw an impressive performance by the R-H boys. Nasheim Pettus (1st), Chris Nichols (2nd), Michael Nichols (5th), John Walker (8th), and John Wendelin (9th) led the Runnin’ Statesmen to their second win of the season.

Both teams will be travelling to Occoneechee State Park in Clarksville to compete in the JRD Championships on October 19.
