LUNENBURG – Recent hearings and discussions about a proposed solar project on Poorhouse Road just outside of Victoria continue with the Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors expected to make the final decision on the project in coming weeks.

The solar utility facility was recently approved by the Lunenburg County Planning Commission as being in accordance with county regulations.

After discussions on May 18, the commission members decided that the 6th Street Solar project was in accordance with Lunenburg County’s Comprehensive Plan. The facility is set to be built at 2188 Poorhouse Road near Victoria.

The project that is being proposed by Borrego Energy would create a three-megawatt solar facility at the above location. Borrego Energy was started in the 1980’s. This project will now move forward by having the Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors decide on approval of their application.

Other solar projects in the area have not gotten approval with the Lunenburg Planning Commission as they did not agree that a Red Brick Solar facility proposed in Lunenburg County, was in accordance with the county comprehensive plan. That will also now go to the Board of Supervisors for a final decision.
