Police Officers Talk Man Down from Tower

Longwood University Police Officers, Town of Farmville Police Officers and Virginia State Troopers responded to a report of a person in distress on West Third Street on Wednesday morning.

The officers arrived on scene to find the individual threatening to jump from his position more than eighty-five feet above the street on top of the water tower.

After discussion with officers on scene, the individual climbed down without incident and was transported for evaluation. At press time, no charges had been filed.

The Farmville Fire Department and the Prince Edward Volunteer Rescue Squad assisted law enforcement on scene.
