Congratulations to Mrs. Peggy Redmond’s Kindergarten Class for collecting the most soda can tabs by pounds during the month of March! They are the winners of a Pizza Party! Phenix Elementary School participates in a community out-reach program by collecting tabs to be sent to the Ronald McDonald House in Roanoke, Virginia. Mrs. Redmond’s class collected 81 pounds of tabs and the school, as a whole, collected 241 pounds! Through the tab collections, the Ronald McDonald House is able to turn them in for cash that goes toward the operation of their program. This program helps families when loved ones are hospitalized for extended stays.Families are able to stay overnight at the Ronald McDonald House and have a hot meal at no cost to the family. Phenix Elementary is proud to be a part of this wonderful service. Next year they plan to collect all year and the winning class will receive a reward at the end of March.
