PECHS Holds Career Day

Prince Edward County High School held their annual “Career Day” on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 in the Prince Edward High School gymnasium from 8-11:30 a.m.

A host of businesses from the area were in attendance at Career Day 2014 and according to Dominique Foster, Guidance Director, “We had 9th-12th grade students as well as 8th grade students who came over from the middle school. Students were able to talk about future career options and goals with local business representatives.” This year’s local businesses included Bug Busters Pest Control Services, Centra Nursing, Centra PACE, ECPI, Farmville Downtown Partnership, Farmville-Prince Edward Library, Five Pointes Dance Center, Farmville Signs & AntScape Photography, Helton House, Great Escape Spalon, Home Health Agency, Hope for Tomorrow Counseling, Kinex, Moton Museum, Oliver & Eggleston Funeral Establishment, Prince Edwards County Sheriff’s Office, Raymond Insurance, Ridge Animal Hospital, Southside Electric, Southside Messenger, Specialty Exterminating, SVCC-In & Out of School Youth Program, The Fishin’ Pig, The Outer You Salon & School of Cosmetology, Town of Farmville, Twin Lakes State Park, U.S. Airforce/U.S. Army/U.S. Marines/U.S. Navy, Wal-Mart, Wells Fargo and WHVL.

Based on information received from Foster, Prince Edward County High School’s career day is a collaboration with the Farmville Chamber of Commerce and is a part of a state initiative to produce college and ready students.
