Peasants vs. The Two-Percenters

Thanks to a Government shutdown, because our Congressmen and President neglected to do the job for which we are paying them, many of our federal employees just got a 16-day paid vacation.

Many of these federal employees are dedicated, competent employees but why should they be paid for NOT working? They could have been offered the opportunity to remain at work and to be paid when a budget was approved or they could have been furloughed but to give them a paid vacation is just another symptom of inefficiency and elitism by our Government.

Why are “The Two Percent” better than the rest of us? Why did they get a paid vacation?

Thousands of “Mom and Pop” businesses were forced to close during the government shutdown because they depend on federal employees and visitors to federal facilities as customers. While their customers were on PAID vacations they were closed. While their customers were on PAID vacations, their employees were on unpaid leave. Their employees had to work through a maze of regulations and paperwork created by the two-percenters in order to qualify for unemployment benefits. The two-percenters got paid full pay AND added to their retirement, sick days and annual leave.

While Congress and some of the two- percenters were still at “work” and were attempting to make the shutdown as painful as possible for the rest of us businesses near National Parks were closed. Their employees did not get paid. The owners did not get paid and the public was punished.

Meanwhile Congress (the one-percenters of the two percent) just exempted itself and its employees from the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) because it wasn’t affordable or suitable for them. How arrogant was that?

The commoners deserve one insurance plan: THEY (the two- percenters) deserve a better plan. Does this make anyone else think of Marie Antoinette? “The peasants have no health insurance.” “Let them have Obamacare (just as long as I get to keep my gold plated 100 percent health plan.)

The peasants have no retirement plans. “Let them have social security (as long as I can keep MY retirement.) The peasants need…”Who cares about the peasants as long as they pay taxes and keep voting us into office?

The two- percenters’ retirement plans are backed with the full force of the United States Government and if it is mismanaged the peasants will still have to pay for them. The peasants, even those who have managed wisely and invested in retirement plans, face the possibility that those plans will go broke and they will be left to spend their retirements in poverty. The two- percenters are protected. They are protected from their poor choices, poor management and poor decisions and the peasants have to pay the bill.

Several years ago the minions of the two- percenters and President Obama were complaining about the one percent of Americans who took risks, built businesses, created jobs and created incredible wealth. They called them “one percenters.” They claimed the one percenters were not paying “their fair share.” They were accused of taking advantage of average Americans.

Meanwhile the Government two-percenters created no wealth, took no risks, created no goods or services and lived off of the taxes paid by the 98 percent. Apparently that is fine.
