PE Eagles Upset Knights, Blast Central Chargers

FARMVILLE – The Prince Edward Eagles varsity boys basketball team picked up their fourth and fifth wins of the season last week with a shocking upset win over Buckingham and a blowout win over Central of Lunenburg.

The Eagles pulled out a shocker over the Buckingham Knights team that is vying for the James River District regular season title. The game was close throughout as Buckingham held a 12-10 lead at the end of the first quarter and held a three point lead at halftime in a 24-21 score.

The Eagles evened the game up in the third quarter with a 16-point effort that tied the score at 37-37 heading to the final period. The Eagles offense had their best scoring period of the game in the fourth quarter and pulled out a thrilling 57-56 victory.

After the big win on Thursday, PE travelled to Central of Lunenburg on Friday and kept the momentum going. The game was over early as PE held a 34-2 lead in the first quarter of the game and cruised to an easy 84-34 win.
