Pay attention

logo- community news & viewsAbout ten years ago, I submitted one sentence sermons that were taken from the signs one would find in front of a church.  Since that time, many new ones have shown up and are very thought provoking.  The new one in front of our church now is “We are adding on. Can we add you?”

With this in mind, this reporter would like to share a few thoughts sent online and then some one sentence sermons.

Isn’t it strange how twenty dollars seems like such a large amount when you donate it to church, but such a small amount when you go shopping?  Isn’t it strange how two hours seem so long when you’re at church and how short they seem when you’re watching a movie?

I think it’s strange how we believe everything that magazines and newspapers say but we question the words in the Bible.  It is also strange that one can’t find words to say when praying but have no trouble thinking what to talk about with a friend.

As you travel about the state, begin to be aware of signs in front of churches.  They are amazing and usually very truthful:

A lot of kneeling will keep you in good standing.

A Bible falling apart belongs to someone who isn’t.

Christians never see the last of each other.

A man is not ready to live if he is not ready to die.

A marriage is the union of two forgivers.

A rumor is about as easy to unspread as butter!

A day hemmed in prayer rarely unravels.

A smile is a curve that can set a lot of things straight.

A turtle only makes progress when he sticks out his neck.

Many folks want to serve God, but only as advisors.

God doesn’t want shares of your life. He wants a controlling interest.

Exercise daily. Walk with the Lord.

We don’t change God’s message.  His message changes us.

Christians aren’t perfect.  Just forgiven.

A dark world needs the risen Son.
