Patriots 1 Patriots 2 Patriots 3CHARLOTTE COUNTY – The Patriots Flag team played a tough game Saturday but were defeated by the Nottoway Gators to end the season as the James River Southside Youth Football League Super Bowl Runner-up.

The first quarter saw excellent Patriot defense with especially strong performances from Aiden Friend and Mikhail Fuller who prevented Nottoway from scoring the PAT on their first touchdown.  Hyde Hamlett had a long run up the middle to score the Patriots only touchdown.  Cameron Clark kicked for two and Charlotte led 8-6.  Despite continued pressure from the Patriot defense, Nottoway scored two touchdowns in the 2nd quarter.  An impressive last minute drive by the Patriots, including a 20-yard pass from C.J. Craighead to Da’Vionne Thompson, was unable to put points on the board before half-time.

In the second half, the Patriots played fiercely.  Strong blocking by Brody Jones, Brayson Duncan, and the entire offensive line allowed Damari Ridley a long run for a first down.  Nottoway’s defense remained strong and the Patriots did not score.
