The Prince Edward Board of Supervisors mourns the loss of Howard M. “Pete” Campbell, who passed away on July 8, 2012 at age 63 in Richmond, Va. Mr. Campbell was a resident of Prospect, Va. and a faithful member of the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department (Company 4) and was just re-elected last November to serve a Board of Supervisors term which would have expired in December of 2017.

Based on information outlined in the Code of Virginia § 15.2-5113 (C): “No vacancy in the board membership of the authority shall impair the right of a quorum to exercise all the rights and perform all the duties of the authority. If a vacancy occurs by reason of the death, disqualification or resignation of a board member, the governing body of the political subdivision which appointed the authority board member shall appoint a successor to fill the unexpired term….”

A home-going service for Mr. Campbell was held on Saturday, July 12 at the Prince Edward Co. school gym and funeral arrangements were handled by Shorter Funeral Home of Farmville.  Mr. Campbell leaves his wife Linda, daughter Meredith, two sisters and one brother to cherish his memory.
