Owner Thanks Employees for Recent Honor

KENBRIDGE -With just over a month left from the one year anniversary of the date that he purchased Mildred’s Meals in Kenbridge, owner Dicky Harris says that the hard work of many has led to the success of the business.

The Lunenburg Chamber of Commerce recently recognized Mildred’s as the Business of the Month. Mr. Harris stated, “I am very thrilled to have Mildred’s chosen as Business of the Month. My employees are totally responsible for this recognition.”

After the town’s oldest restaurant briefly closed in 2014, the former mayor stepped in to reopen the doors in December 2014. Since then, through hard work from a dedicated staff, the business has thrived and continued to serve people in the community.

When initially purchasing and opening the building, Mr. Harris said that he felt it was extremely important to Kenbridge and the surrounding area to keep this restaurant open.

The restaurant originally opened in the present location in the mid to late 1950’s and was known as Lena Allen’s Restaurant.

Following that, over 25 years ago, Mildred Carter purchased the restaurant and continued to operate the business for many years. This restaurant location has been in the present location for almost 60 years and brings great home-style food as well as great service and a friendly atmosphere.
