Orville Lindell Dempsey Obituary

Orville Lindell Dempsey, 64, of Rolling Hill Road, Pamplin, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at his residence. He was the husband of Brenda Taylor Dempsey for 41years.

 Born in Williamson, West Va., on December 1, 1951, he was the son of Bill L. Dempsey, Sr. of Meherrin and the late Mattie James Dempsey. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and the Driver Hunt Club and especially enjoyed attending his granddaughter’s softball games. He served his country in the U.S. Army Communications Unit in the Philippines and in 2002 he retired as a lieutenant with the Henrico Division of Fire.

In addition to his wife, Brenda and father, Bill he is survived by a son, Benjamin Dempsey and wife, Tiffany, of Charlotte Court House; a daughter, Roxanne D. Catron and husband, Walter, of Pamplin; granddaughter, Marissa Anne Dempsey; a brother, Billy L. Dempsey, Jr. and wife, Janis, of Keysville; and three sisters, Mickey Deland and husband, Ronnie, of Sweetwater, Tenn., Cathy Shannon of Keysville, and Theresa Norris and husband, Bob, of Newport News.

A graveside funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, April 15, 2016, in Centenary United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Herndon Jeffreys.
