On Saturday, October 18, Mt. Nebo Baptist Church and Mt. Tirzah Baptist Church came together to host a free Gospel Concert at the Charlotte Court House Ball Park.

Michael Wayne Smith, a Christian singer/songwriter from Oak Ridge, Tennessee, was the guest musician for the afternoon.  According to his biography on his website, Michaelwaynesmith.com, “In October 2008, Michael released his first national release, Welcome Home, through Church House Music.  A few months later, he released his first radio single, The Reason That I Sing.   In October 2009, the second single, Everything’s Fine, was released to radio and quickly received overwhelming response by radio listeners everywhere.  Christian bookstores around the country began seeking out the virtually unknown singer of this powerful song.   This ultimately led to a distribution agreement with one of the largest Christian distributors in the country.”

In addition to the musical talent of Smith, attendees were able to enjoy free stew, free hotdogs, drinks, coco and s’mores.  Inflatable slides and jump houses were also available to entertain the children, as well as corn hole games.

Debbie Reeves stated that the name “Operation: In As Much” came from a popular scripture in the Bible that focuses on helping others and giving.  Next year, Reeves stated that she hopes the event will grow as a non-denominational gathering and include everyone.
