One Man Injured in Early Morning Crash

One man miraculously received minor injuries in a serious crash on Abilene Road this morning.

According to the Virginia State Police, Raymond Adams, age 25 from the Abilene area, was traveling on Abilene Road when he ran off the right shoulder of the road and overcorrected, crossing the road and running off the left side of the road. The truck then struck several trees and overturned, trapping Adams in the overturned truck.

Emergency Personnel from Darlington Heights Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene along with members of the Prince Edward County Volunteer Rescue Squad in their Heavy Rescue truck.

Crews were able to extricate Adams from the truck and he was transported to the Centra Southside Community Hospital with minor injuries.

Adams was charged with reckless driving. Trooper Trombley is the investigating officer in the incident.
