On the subject of Health Care Reform…

Dear Editor:

One the best, if not THE best editorial commentary I have read is by Averett Jones, editor of the Southside Messenger. The commentary I am speaking of is the “Side Effects of Health Care Reform.” Vol. 10 No. 13, Week of August 15th – 21st.  Mr. Jones is dead on, hitting the nail square on the head. I have had my own personal doctors at the University of Virginia tell me Obama is a disaster and will drive up insurance costs through the roof and ultimately end in rationed medical care. In my sixty-one years here on earth and a fourth generation AMERICAN I cannot recall darker days for America. In my honest opinion our Nanny Care president seems hell bent on bankrupting our great nation and “health care reform” America into a complete socialist state and regulate every single move we, his peasants, make. Already we are told what kind of light bulbs we can burn and his EPA is fast tracking on what kind of vehicles we will be allowed to drive and how much energy we will be allowed to use every day. He wants to destroy the coal industry putting tens of thousands of miners out of work turning towns into ghost towns. He is dead set on prohibiting the Keystone Pipe line keeping us dependent on imported oil, but, lets not forget that Obama tells us “Al Qaeda is decimated and on the run.” And then his EPA wants to ban fracking, a proven environmentally safe way of extracting natural gas. Natural gas is abundant here in the states and is very clean, safe and internal combustion engines run virtually emissions free on natural and propane gas. Of course, we can rest assured that Obama will get “get to the bottom” of: the Bin Gazi incident, Fast and Furious gun running, the IRS, the NSA, but these are just “phony scandals.” I so fondly remember, and it makes me proud to remember my days in PUBLIC elementary school when we would start the day by raising the flag while a student played revelry and we sang the Star Spangled Banner and God Bless America and we said the Lord’s Prayer. And I remember the words of one of our best presidents, an old school democrat, John F. Kennedy, “ASK NOT WHAT YOUR COUNTRY CAN DO FOR YOU, BUT WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR YOUR COUNTRY.” Today we have sixteen-year-old kids murdering foreign college students because “we were bored” and murdering World War II vets. Personally, I am scared to think about the future of our country, really scared for our country’s children. Please, let’s all pray for our great United States of America.

Dear Editor:

I have been reading The Southside Messenger for some time now and am impressed with your coverage of the Town of Farmville. Your paper seems to be able to get information that never appears in The Farmville Herald.

The only criticism I have is that I wish your paper was available in more locations in Farmville.

Keep up the good work.
