Wiley E. Baldwin, Jr.

Pamplin, Va.

Wiley Edward Baldwin, Jr., age 54 of Pamplin, died Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Lynchburg General Hospital.  He was a great family man, a wonderful dad, grandpa, and brother.

obit - baldwinBorn in Lynchburg, Va., on September 20, 1961, he was a son of the late Thelma Mann and Wiley Edward Baldwin, Sr.  He worked for Thomasville Furniture and was a member of the Pamplin Town Council. Wiley was a faithful Redskins and NASCAR fan, an avid gardener, and enjoyed small engine repair.

He is survived by three sons, Donald W. Chandler and Pamela Floyd of Appomattox, Aaron K. Baldwin and Lindsay Stanley of Pamplin, and Corey L. Chandler and Cheyenne Reynolds of Appomattox; a granddaughter, Madison Rose Baldwin; two sisters, June B. Love and Janice W. Baldwin both of Phenix; a close friend, Carolyn R. Chandler; his two Chihuahuas, Squirt and Daisy Mae; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise B. Knott and Jean Faye B. Evans.

 A graveside funeral service was held at 3 p.m., Monday, January 18, 2016, at Pamplin Cemetery.

 The family received friends at Robinson Funeral Home on Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 4 until 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Chase City, Va.

obit - Mrs. ScottBettie Mason Scott, age 81, of Chase City, Virginia passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2016. She was born on November 6, 1934 in Aspen, Va. to the late Duvall James Mason and the late Bertha Mae Covington Mason. She is survived by two daughters, Glenda Edmonds and her husband, Duke, of Chase City and Ann Foster of Skipwith; one son, Clarence Henry Scott, Jr. and his wife, Sandra, of Farmville; twenty grandchildren, Steven, Cynthia, Greg, Deborah, Jennifer, Robbie, Jesse, Kendra, April, Amber, Bradley, Jessica, Shannon, Brigitte, Alexis, Katie, LeAnn, Heather, William, and Thomas, and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Annie Mae Mason of Drakes Branch, Margarite Rutledge of Drakes Branch, and Elizabeth Waycaster and her husband, Glen, of Concord; one brother, Thomas Mason and his wife, Linda, of Saxe, numerous nieces and nephews, her special friend. Ella Wells, and her roommate at the nursing home, Clarisse Smith. Mrs. Scott is predeceased by her husband, Clarence Henry Scott, Sr., one daughter, Kim Scott Edmonds, and one granddaughter, Ashley Gail Edmonds. She was a member of Rehoboth Methodist Church. Visitation was held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home. Funeral services were held on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at the Scott Family Cemetery.
