Nottoway Crash Takes Life of Farmville Woman

Nottoway crash take the life ofNOTTOWAY – On the same day and almost at the same time as a tragic accident that took place in Lunenburg, there was an accident in Farmville that also saw a person killed.

A Farmville woman identified as 44-year-old Betsy G. Evans died at the scene of the Route 460 crash while a teen passenger involved in the wreck was flown to VCU Medical Center for treatment of serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The wreck took place around 8:55 a.m. on Route 460 Business, near Route 658 in Nottoway County, when a 1995 Chevrolet CK5100 pickup truck was traveling east on Route 460 Business. The driver, Evans, ran off the right side of the road and then overcorrected the pickup. The truck then crossed back over the road and ran off the left side of the highway where it crashed into a tree before coming to a stop.

Virginia State Police officials say that Evans was not wearing a seat belt during the wreck, but the 15-year-old female passenger who was also injured did have on a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation.
