KENBRIDGE – Rodney Newton was recently honored by the Lunenburg Chamber of Commerce as “Man of the Year” and one of the many tributes to him was a description of the many hats he wears in the community.

It appears as though he will continue to wear several as the Victoria Fire and Rescue members named him chief once again this year and Kenbridge officials have confirmed with him that he will continue to oversee the operations at Kenbridge Emergency Squad (KES).

Kenbridge Town Council members asked Mr. Newton if his recent acceptance of the Town Manager of Victoria position would interfere with his administrative duties at KES. He indicated that this would not be an issue and actually noted that he felt it is best for him to remain in the current role now as the organization is attempting to have their 501c3 status reinstated.

The reinstatement request with supporting documents (for 501c3 status) has been sent by KES.

Mr. Newton said that he would like to continue to pursue this reinstatement and work on some other issues facing the organization prior to having any changes made to his duties. One of the issues facing the group is bringing in additional volunteers.
