National Night OutVICTORIA – The National Night Out event took place this past Tuesday throughout the United States and one of the local locations had a great night of fun activities, food and fellowship.

BLISS of Lunenburg hosted a National Night Out event at the Victoria Railroad Park and the annual community building campaign which is designed to promote police and citizen partnerships while building neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer and better places to live was a tremendous success.

BLISS founder Lena Hipps-Clarke stated, “I want to thank everyone who helped volunteer and who attended while making the night a great event.”

There were over 150 boxes of school supplies handed out during the event and over 200 hotdogs to go along with the other food items eaten.

Attendees were able to enjoy hotdogs, chips and refreshments on hand for free while local school kids had a chance to get ready to head back to school with the school supply giveaway where kids in attendance received school gifts.

In addition to that there were games such as bingo, ladder ball, volleyball, horseshoes and much more along with some people getting special gift certificates to BLISS.

Local law enforcement officials were on hand to enjoy the night as well and to continue to show their bond and commitment to local citizens.

Law enforcement as well as fire and rescue departments were on hand at the event and participated. Victoria Police Chief Keith Phillips noted that this is another positive community event and his department enjoyed being a part of it.

Over 38 million people in more than 16,000 communities celebrated the National Night Out’s 33rd annual event and BLISS officials made the great night possible for Victoria residents.
