Murder in small town of Phenix

mugshot TURNERPHENIX – On Friday, April 8, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting a fight in the Phenix area of Charlotte County, at the residence of Richard Turner.  Turner said he had shot a man and he thought he was dead.  Turner went on to say that the man was beating him.  When deputies arrived on the scene, Turner, a white male, 73 years old, met them in the yard.  The victim was identified as Rocky Wilbur, a white male, 26 years old, originally from Michigan.  Wilbur was shot seven times. He was transported to Richmond, Va. to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.  Turner, who has bite marks on his arms, was transported to Southside Emergency Room in Farmville, Va. and treated for his injuries and was later released to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office. Turner has been charged with 2nd degree murder. He has been released on $10,000 bond.
