On Saturday, April 11, at approximately 4:10 p.m., Linda Canada Ramsey of Dinwiddie was traveling west on Hwy. 360 in Keysville when she lost control of the 2006 Cadillac she was driving.

DUIAccording to Virginia State Police, Ramsey, 69, was reaching for a Mt. Dew when she ran off the left side of road, went down an embankment through the median and came to rest in the eastbound lane.

It was estimated that Ramsey’s vehicle sustained $8,000 in damage.  While it was determined that Ramsey had previously been drinking, alcohol was not a factor in the crash due to her blood alcohol concentration level falling within the legal limit.  According to Code of Virginia § 18.2-266 “It shall be unlawful for any person to drive or operate any motor vehicle, engine or train (i) while such person has a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 percent or more by weight by volume or 0.08 grams or more per 210 liters of breath as indicated by a chemical test administered as provided in this article.”

Ramsey was transported to Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital for injuries sustained in the accident.  No charges were filed in this incident. Trooper B. Meeks was the investigating officer.
