CHARLOTTE COUNTY – Two people were injured in a crash at Crafton’s Gate in Charlotte County on Friday, August 12 involving a motorcycle and a truck.

According to Virginia State Trooper James Gregory, the crash occurred at approximately 12:34p.m. Gregory’s report indicates Kathy M. Mann, age 50 of Saxe, was stopped at the stop sign on the Drakes Branch side of Route 47. Another vehicle was stopped in the intersection in one of the turn lanes and indicated to Mann to proceed. As Mann proceeded, a motorcycle traveling on Highway 360 struck Mann’s 2011 GMC Sierra in the driver’s door.

The motorcycle, a 2005 Kawasaki, was driven by Robert D. Yerka, age 69 of Prospect, New York. Gregory indicated that it appeared that Yerka was thrown through Mann’s driver-side window, striking Mann and causing serious injuries to both parties. Both were flown by helicopter to area hospitals.

Charges are pending.
