Morning Crash Results in Minor Injuries

Abilene rd. accidentFirefighters from Hampden-Sydney Volunteer Fire Department and emergency medical personnel from Prince Edward Volunteer Rescue Squad and Meherrin Vol. Fire Department responded to a single vehicle crash in the 3400 block of Abilene Road on Tuesday morning just before 8:30 a.m.

A Jeep with four passengers was travelling on Abilene Road when it ran out of the road and struck a tree, throwing the two backseat passengers out of the back window of the Jeep. Both the backseat passengers and the frontseat passenger were transported to Centra Southside Community Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The driver was charged with failing to maintain control of his vehicle.
