Man Injured in Accidental Firearm Discharge in Keysville

On Friday afternoon July 12, 2013 at 4:58 p.m. the Charlotte County Sheriff’s office and Emergency Services were called to 115 King Street in Keysville with a report of an accidental shooting of an employee at Rebel Sporting Goods.

Upon arrival officers found 50-year-old Michael Edwards suffering from a gunshot wound to his foot.

According to the police report Edwards stated, “A customer had brought in a .22 magnum rifle for possible sale or trade and I briefly checked the rifle.” The police report states, “While checking the rifle he placed it on his foot and pulled the trigger, causing the gun to fire a round into his foot.”

First aid was administered and Edwards was transported to Centra Southside Community Hospital.
