Lunenburg National Night Out Event in Kenbridge

News Pic--Lunenburg 0KENBRIDGE – Lunenburg County held their  National Night Out event a little later than most of the country after weather related issues forced the postponement of the original date.  National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities in all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August. Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more.

In Lunenburg the event took place on Monday, August 16, 2019 from 5 to 7 p.m.

in the Kenbridge Town Park. Citizens interacted with local police officers, fire and rescue members, and community service providers.

The activities included VA State Police demonstrations, children’s games, music, face painting, kid’s ID DARE information booths, K-9 demonstrations, bouncy house, and informational booths.

Some of the sponsors and participants included SVCC, Kenbridge Recreation Center, Turning Point Healing Retreat, Tri Community Action, Madeline’s House, Court Services Unit and Regional Victims Services.
