Lunenburg Machine Pitch Falls to Farmville in State Tourney

APPOMATTOX – The Lunenburg Machine Pitch All-Star team played in the State Tournament held in Appomattox this past weekend and after a tough early game, rebounded to get a big win and play another close game against PEFYA before ending their summer run.

Lunenburg would face off against the host team from Appomattox in the first game of the weekend. Logan King would triple and score on a Chad Mattox hit for Lunenburg’s only run. Reece Hart and Walter King would both be one for one at the plate for Lunenburg, but the team suffered an 18-1 loss.

Lunenburg rebounded in the next contest against Vinton. Lunenburg would score early and often on the way to a huge 19-8 victory. Lunenburg would have 28 hits during the game and a big seven run fifth inning to blow the game open.

During the big inning Vic Powell, Jordan Teitelbaum, Reece Hart, and Logan King all collected hits and RBI.

Aaron Ball had a huge game at the plate with three extra-base hits, while Ethan Blowers kicked the scoring off for Lunenburg. During the game the above players along with Jayden Skelton, Juan Lara, Owen Barnette, and Rusty Hooten all had multiple hits.

Lunenburg then faced off against PEFYA and after playing several close games in tournament play, things would go the same once again. Lunenburg led throughout the contest, but PEFYA made a late run to pull off the 12-11 victory and end the tournament for Lunenburg.
