Lee Floyd Parker, Jr., age 64, of Crewe, Va. was sentenced to three active years in prison based on an incident that occurred in October of 2011. Parker pled guilty in the Lunenburg Circuit Court to three felony drug charges of distribution of cocaine. According to Commonwealth Attorney Robert Clement, “The local narcotics task force worked an undercover operation on three different dates in October 2011 and purchased $100 in cocaine on two of the buys from Parker and $200 worth on another purchase. Parker received an additional 27 years suspended upon numerous conditions.
Roy Eugene Owens, age 66, of Victoria, Va. was sentenced to an active two years in prison
after pleading guilty to a felony charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in the Lunenburg Circuit Court. The incident, which occurred on July 7, 2013, stemmed from an argument Owens was having with his wife after being locked out of the home they shared for not paying his part of the house payment. Commonwealth Attorney Clement stated that Owens proceeded to call the Sheriff’s Department and Deputy Daniel Peacock arrived on scene and explained to the wife that Owens had a right to be in the home since both of their names were on the title. The wife then alerted Deputy Peacock that Owens had a gun in the home. Owens received an additional three years suspended on numerous conditions.
Wendy Joyce Bagley, age 30, of Kenbridge, Va., was sentenced to an active sentence of one
year in jail for hitting a male friend on the head. According to Commonwealth Attorney Clement, the incident took place on November 5, 2013 while Bagley was visiting the home of a Kenbridge man (whom a close friend of hers had moved in with). After spotting a hair dryer that Bagley claimed the friend had taken from her, the man tried to stop Bagley and she grabbed a ceramic bowl and hit him in the head and face. Bagley pleaded guilty in the Lunenburg Circuit Court to a felony charge of unlawful wounding in the town of Kenbridge. An additional four years were suspended on numerous conditions.
John Christopher Barton, age 29, of Keysville, Va. pleaded guilty to a charge of Felony Child
Endangerment following an incident that occurred on September 14, 2012. According to Commonwealth Clement, Barton was spotted in his yard driving recklessly on an ATV with his two young children, ages three and six. It was also observed that he appeared to be unsteady on his feet. Barton admitted to a Social Services worker that he had consumed three beers, but did not believe he was drunk. Barton was sentenced to 60 days in jail with an additional four years and 10 months suspended based upon numerous conditions.
Carl Wingfield, age 43, of Victoria, Va. pleaded guilty in the Lunenburg Circuit Court to charges for a hit and run involving injury that occurred on May
10, 2012. According to Commonwealth Attorney Clement, Wingfield crossed over the center line in the pickup truck he was driving and struck a 1998 Mustang on the side, which caused the car to run off the road and into a field. Wingfield then fled the scene on foot. Three occupants in the vehicle were treated for minor injuries and it was discovered that Wingfield’s license was also suspended after he turned himself in three hours later. Wingfield was sentenced to 60 days in jail on felony charges of leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury. He also received an additional four years and 10 months suspended based upon numerous conditions.
