The resolution states in part,

Whereas, Carter “was dearly loved by his family and friends and was actively involved in his school and community” … “and the new bridge is only a few miles from his family home. “

Charlotte County will be responsible for fabricating and installing the signs for the renaming.

Will White, father of Carter, thanked the board for honoring Carter and thanked Supervisor Haywood Hamlet for his efforts in having the bridge replaced.  “This (the replacement) has been needed for a long time. Haywood has worked long and hard in getting this done and we appreciate it.”
