It’s that time again! National Night Out 2015 is coming to a location near you! This year, National Night Out is officially scheduled for Tuesday, August 4. However, if Tuesday does not accommodate your busy schedule, some departments have moved their events to a later date in the week.

According to a press release from the Town of Farmville Police Department, “National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug-prevention awareness, develop and strengthen partnerships between police and residents, and generate support for anti-crime programs such as Neighborhood Watch, Crime Solvers and Business Watch.”

For the past 32 years, National Night Out has been a tradition across the nation. National Night Out boasts an average of 16,124 communities that come together to promote crime prevention in local neighborhoods. Official literature from National Night Out stated, “Neighborhoods across the nation host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other various community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, and visits from emergency personnel and exhibits.”
