Local Beauty First Runner-Up in Miss America Pageant

Twenty-one year-old Courtney Paige Garret of Pamplin represented the state of Virginia well on Sunday, September 14 at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

After an impressive journey to become “Miss America,” Virginians all over the state were on the edge of their seats as Garret was announced as a “Top 5” finalist in the competition among 53 total contestants.  Finally it was the moment everyone had been waiting for.  Miss Virginia, Courtney Paige Garrett, was named first runner up in the Miss America Pageant.  Miss New York, Kira Kazantsev was crowned Miss America 2015.

Throughout her journey, Garrett was crowned Miss State Fair of Virginia. From there she went on to compete in the Miss Virginia Pageant on June 28, 2014 at the Roanoke Civic Center.  Garret won the title of Miss Virginia, which afforded her the opportunity to compete in the Miss America Pageant, where Garrett proudly represented her platform “defying disabilities.”   According to the Miss America Website, “Since its inception in 1921 the competition continues to grow and remains rich in history and social significance. Based in Linwood, New Jersey, the Miss America Organization (a not-for-profit organization) provides young women with a vehicle to further their personal and professional goals and instills a spirit of community service through a variety of unique nationwide community-based programs.”

Garret is a graduate of Prince Edward County High School and Liberty University.  Her career ambition is to found a non-profit organization and to complete a Master of Business Administration Program.
