The Lunenburg Middle School teams both had strong seasons this year with each group making it to the playoffs before ending their seasons.

P--LMSThe LMS Boy’s were the Southside District Champions this year, but drew a tough playoff opponent in Russell Middle School. The game would be low scoring early on and with Russell leading by 3 points at halftime. However, LMS would not be able to get their offense going in the second half and fell by a 40-25 score.

Leading the Blue Devils in scoring were Davion Taylor, and Darrion Jones who scored 7 points each. Mareoun Tisdale Couch added 4 points,  Moewuante Morrison scored 3 points, while  T’zion Wilkerson and Khalil Wood rounded out the scoring with 2 points each.  The LMS Boy’s had a great season and ended the year with a 9-2 record.

The LMS Girl’s team would get a tough opening round playoff draw as they took on the top ranked and undefeated Park View Middle School team. The Lady Blue Devils would fall by a 41-12 score against the eventual tournament champions from Park View.

The team was led in scoring by Teonia Watts, who had 9 points. Kendra Alexander scored 2 points while Macie Nash rounded out the scoring with 1 point. The LMS Lady Blue Devils ended the season with a winning 6-5 record.

Lady Chargers end season at Middlesex

The Central Lady Chargers traveled to Middlesex last week in the opening round of the Conference 42 Tournament. Central would battle foul trouble  throughout the game before finally falling by a 52-32 score.

The game was close early on as  the Lady Chargers led 9-8 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter would find the CHS offense stumbling as they were outscored by 13 points and trailed 23-11 at halftime.

The third quarter saw Central make some offensive adjustments and score early, but Middlesex depth and size continued to wear down Central and gave the home squad the victory.
