Little Libraries in the County – Residents urged to contribute

LITTLE LIBRARY-COMMUNITYInspired by a suggestion from Charlotte County Retired Teachers, little community “libraries” are being constructed and placed throughout the County.  Sandy Flynn has headed up the construction and placement of several smaller “libraries.”  Because two communities are more distant from our County branch libraries, the County Supervisors for Saxe and Madisonville/Red House areas asked County employees to construct larger structures.  These have been placed at the convenience centers for Saxe and Madisonville/Red House.  The informal “libraries” are stocked with donated books, with instructions to “take a book and leave a book.”  Already citizens are taking advantage of the informal browsing and borrowing, supplementing the more extensive collections available in our formal County Library system. The photo above is of the “library” at Madisonville/Red House.
