On Saturday, November 1, the Charlotte Adult Learning Center sponsored their 2014 Literacy Day titled “Literacy Then and Now.”

The event will began at 10 a.m. and featured a special reading by Patricia Graves at 10:30, in costume, from the book “Cassie’s Sweet Berry Pie,” an 1800’s children’s novel written by Karen B. Wimmick. Other activities throughout the day included an antique fire truck, origami, kiddie train, pony rides and more.

Professionals such as a judge, nurse, dance instructor, meteorologist and others were in attendance to discuss the topic of “Literacy Then and Now.”  Refreshments were on hand and there were numerous opportunities to win door prizes and gifts.  The event will ran from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
