Lightning JV Gets Second Shutout of the Year

CHARLOTTE COURT HOUSE – The Lightning JV football team headed west this weekend for a showdown with the Patriots of Charlotte County.

The Lightning got off to a quick start scoring on the opening drive and this would continue as Lunenburg had their way running the ball all afternoon behind great blocking from Hunter Word, James Jenkins, Hayden Gary, Colin Bishop and Jameryion Cook.

Connor Mattox had a big day on the ground rushing for two touchdowns. Latrell Johnson, Thomas Morrison and Fabulous Alexander all scored touchdowns for the Lightning as well with the team cruising  to a 32-0 victory.

The Lightning defense pitched their second shutout of the year led by Maki Tucker, Justin Nance, Robert Spence and Jacob Morris. Latrell Johnson intercepted the Patriots quarterback late in the game to preserve the shutout.

Lightning Coaches stated, “It was a great team win, as everyone contributed to the victory.”
